29 September 2026 – NZX advises that BNP Paribas has been accredited as a General Clearing Participant on the NZX Cash Market.
General Clearing Participants provide clearing and settlement services for cash market transactions, supporting the safe and efficient operation of New Zealand's capital markets. BNP Paribas is the first global financial services firm to become a General Clearing Participant in the NZX cash market.
NZX General Manager, Market Operations and Clearing Felicity Gibson says the accreditation expands the clearing options available to market participants.

“BNP Paribas has been an important partner in NZX markets for more than 15 years. Its accreditation as a General Clearing Participant strengthens the range of services available to market participants and reflects growing international engagement with New Zealand's capital markets,” Mr Morris says.
BNP Paribas Head of Securities Services New Zealand Iain Martin, says: “This accreditation reflects BNP Paribas’ longstanding commitment to supporting the growth and evolution of New Zealand’s capital markets. By extending our global clearing capabilities to the NZX cash market, we are enhancing access, connectivity and choice for our financial intermediary clients, while contributing to a more competitive, efficient and resilient market ecosystem,” Mr Martin says.
“As the first global financial institution accredited as a General Clearing Participant in New Zealand’s cash market, we are proud to support greater international participation and connectivity, helping to further strengthen the attractiveness of New Zealand’s capital markets for both domestic and global investors, and providing an efficient post trade model for intermediaries looking to align their model in New Zealand with those we support in other jurisdictions.”
