Tairawhiti, New Zealand – Rua Bioscience (NZX: RUA) has today released its Annual Report for the 12 months ended 30 June 2026 (FY26), highlighting a year of strong commercial progress and continued execution of Rua’s export-led strategy.
FY26 saw Rua deliver significant revenue growth, strengthen its position in established international markets and move to secure its largest export agreement to date in the United Kingdom. These developments demonstrate increasing customer demand for Rua’s New Zealand-grown medicinal cannabis products and the growing reach of its capital-efficient approach to international growth.
The Annual Report provides an overview of Rua's FY26 performance and progress, including the continued development of its international distribution channels and expansion into new markets. Rua’s strategy remains anchored in its differentiated Tairāwhiti genetics, strategic cultivation partnerships and targeted international distribution.
The Annual Report is attached and is also available on Rua’s website:

Financial Results
Rua's financial performance was previously outlined with the release of preliminary unaudited results on 28 August 2026. Revenue from customers grew 71% to $2.6m (FY25: $1.5m), driving total revenue up 53% to $2.9m (FY25: $1.9m). Loss before tax reduced 3% to $3.36m (FY25: $3.46m); excluding financing costs and one-off inventory impairments, the loss narrowed from $3.30m to $3.07m.
The release of audited financial statements was delayed while the Board completed further funding through the previously announced Convertible Note facility. For further information and context please refer to the Going Concern Note (Note 2(f)) in the Financial Statements.
The Directors continue to believe Rua is well positioned for growth, supported by continued shareholder backing, an expanding international sales pipeline and Rua's newly signed United Kingdom distribution agreement.
Delivering on strategy
FY26 demonstrated continued execution of Rua’s strategy to build a sustainable international medicinal cannabis business through differentiated genetics, strong market partnerships and effective routes to market. Rua strengthened its position in Australia, where sales revenue and margin almost doubled, grew in Aotearoa New Zealand, expanded its product offering in Germany, entered the United Kingdom and Czechia and completed its first export of live cannabis clones to Canada. The progress made during FY26 created the platform for Rua’s significant post-year-end expansion into the United Kingdom.
“FY26 shows that Rua's export-led strategy is translating into real commercial momentum,” said Anna Stove, Board Chair. “Our position in established markets has strengthened, we have opened important new growth pathways in the United Kingdom and Canada, and our home market continues to grow. We are grateful for the continued support of our shareholders, whose backing has enabled Rua to convert this expanding market access into tangible commercial progress.”
Subsequent events
Following the FY26 balance date, Rua confirmed two further developments that are expected to support continued growth into FY27:
United Kingdom: Rua signed a sales and distribution agreement with a leading UK clinic chain in July 2026, expected to generate NZ$10 mill in revenue over its initial two-year term.
Aotearoa New Zealand: regulatory approval was received for five further products from the New Zealand Medicinal Cannabis Agency in July 2026, supporting Rua's expanded product range.
Further capital requirements
To support its ongoing growth, Rua will continue to require additional capital as sales expand across its international markets. The Board continues to work with key shareholders and advisors on funding options to support the Group's working capital and inventory requirements.
Outlook
Rua's focus for FY27 is on continuing sales growth across its established markets of New Zealand, Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom, while building out new revenue streams from emerging markets including Czechia and Canada. Sales are anticipated to maintain an upward trajectory through FY27, supported by ongoing investment in new product development.
Alongside this commercial progress, Rua remains committed to its kaupapa of delivering social impact in Tairawhiti and beyond. In FY26, Rua's Compassionate Access Programme continued to support up to 52 patients each month, and the company awarded 14 undergraduate scholarships to local rangatahi through its Scholarship Programme.
“Rua's momentum continues to build,” said Paul Naske, Chief Executive Officer. “We are confident in the opportunities ahead across our export markets and remain committed to building long-term, sustainable value for our shareholders, our people and our communities.”
