18 June 2026 – NZX advises that CMC Markets Stockbroking Limited (CMC Markets) has been accredited as a Trading and Advising Participant, Clearing Participant, Depository Participant and Legal Title Transfer Depository Participant on the NZX Cash Market.
CMC Markets is a global provider of online trading services, offering clients in over 150 countries access to a broad range of financial products across major markets. This accreditation enables CMC Markets to provide a full-service offering to retail and institutional customers wishing to invest in New Zealand-listed companies.
NZX General Manager, Cash and Derivatives Nick Morris says NZX is pleased to welcome CMC Markets to NZX.
“CMC Markets brings strong international capability, a broad client base and a proven track record in markets, which will support greater access and participation in New Zealand’s capital market. Its accreditation reinforces the attractiveness of NZX as a transparent, well-regulated market and aligns with our focus on enhancing liquidity,” Mr Morris says.
CMC Markets New Zealand Managing Director Chris Smith says CMC is pleased to be accredited as a NZX Participant.
“We are delighted to achieve accreditation as an NZX Cash Market Participant. This is an important milestone in expanding our presence in New Zealand and broadening the services we offer to investors,” Mr Smith says
“As Australia's second-largest retail stockbroker, we look forward to bringing our award-winning platform, proprietary technology and market expertise to New Zealand. We see strong opportunities to support the broader investment ecosystem, including wealth managers, advisers and brokers, through the technology and white-label solutions that already support more than 150 financial institutions and partners in Australia.
“We believe our participation will help broaden access to investment opportunities and contribute to the continued growth of New Zealand's capital markets.”
NZX Head of Secondary Markets, Brandon Tai says welcoming CMC is another step forward in the evolution of the NZX market.
“As we continue to grow participation across both cash equities and equity derivatives, the addition of sophisticated global intermediaries like CMC Markets supports the broader development of New Zealand’s capital markets ecosystem,” Mr Tai says.
CMC Markets is expected to begin as an NZX Cash Market Participant in July 2026.
