Channel Infrastructure NZ Limited (NZX:CHI, ASX:CHI), New Zealand’s largest fuel import terminal business, notes the New Zealand Government’s announcement today regarding additional fuel storage at the Company’s Marsden Point site.

Channel confirms that it is working with the New Zealand Government to bring on an additional 93 million litres of diesel storage at Channel’s Marsden Point site on an accelerated basis, in approximately two months.

Channel’s Chief Executive Rob Buchanan said “I am immensely proud of the way our people and contractors in Northland have come together to quickly identify options to rapidly and significantly increase onshore diesel storage for the benefit of New Zealand. The additional storage, once delivered, will enhance resilience against supply chain disruptions and help enable New Zealanders to access the critical fuels they need to keep moving. The pace at which our team has been able to develop these solutions demonstrates the adaptability of our team and contractors in Northland, highlighting the region’s vital role in supporting national energy security.

“Channel has a strong track record of delivering capital projects safely, on time and on budget. Moving forward our priority will be to safely deliver the additional storage, and do so as quickly as possible.”

Channel will commence works immediately. Contractual details are still being finalised and Channel will provide updates to the market as relevant details are confirmed.

Import terminal operations at Marsden Point continue as normal.
